The Summit, created to help women and non-profit leaders of organizations supporting women and girls make connections to like-minded individuals, was held on April 29 and 30 at the West Des Moines Sheraton. If you were unable to attend, we would encourage you to talk to friends and colleagues who did attend – they will echo one participant who said, “This is the first conference I’ve attended where every speaker, every break-out group was outstanding and worth my time!” Thursday evening’s reception was a great opportunity for women to connect and reconnect with others. The highlight was a presentation by Talia Leman. Ms. Leman has accomplished more in her 15 years than many adults do in a lifetime. Through the efforts of her nonprofit RandomKid, she has coordinated the philanthropic efforts of 20,000 youth worldwide, raising nearly $11 million for various causes. 2010 Iowa Women's Hall of Fame Ceremony August 28, 2010 State Historical Building 10:30 a.m. You are cordially invited to attend, free of charge, the Iowa Women's Hall of Fame Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2010, to celebrate the induction of four outstanding women. The ceremony will take place at the Iowa State Historical Building, 600 East Locust, Des Moines. The event is held in conjunction with Women's Equality Day, August 26, which commemorates the day in 1920 when American women first obtained the right to vote.
