A wonderful time was had by all at our first-ever Women You Know, Women You Want to Meet event in the Iowa City-Cedar Rapids Corridor
Historic President's Residence of the University of Iowa 102 Church Street, Iowa City University of Iowa President, Sally Mason, graciously opened her home to host the inaugural Women You Know, Women You Want to Meet in the Iowa City - Cedar Rapids Corridor. History of Women You Know - For more than 10 years, an eclectic group of fascinating women has gathered in the Des Moines area to enjoy a glass of wine and to delight in the pleasure of each other's company. Community activists, business professionals, political veterans and a political novice or two have found their way to Women You Know, Women You Want to Meet.
The April, 2009, Women You Know, Women You Want To Meet was a tremendous success! More than 170 women registered to attend and the feedback was excellent! Participants enjoyed an evening of great conversation with fascinating women from all walks of life.
We are grateful for Christie's warm and generous hospitality in opening her home for this wonderful event - particularly in light of an extraordinarily busy schedule! We also thank our Sponsors and all those who attended. Click Here to view a list of Sponsors.
All proceeds will be used to sponsor a Summit designed to bring individuals and organizations together who support, advocate for or simply strive to help women and girls in Iowa. Together we will blend our voices into one beautiful chorus that will resonate across our State in support of women and girls.
Friends invites women outside of the Des Moines area to join us or, even better, to create your own version of Women You Know. All that is required is a group of women interested in getting together to share an evening of conversation while supporting the Friends. The Des Moines event usually takes place in a woman's home which is a perfect place for women to gather. To inquire about supporting the Friends by starting a Women You Know group in your community, contact the Friends: Info@FriendsofICSW.org
